GOOGLE AND GRUMPY SAILOR

Topaz Cable

There’s a new subsea cable in town: Topaz, the first-ever fiber cable to connect Canada and Asia.

Over the summers of 2021 and 2022 the Pink Buffalo team had a fantastic time working with Grumpy Sailor to coordinate and capture the Vancouver Island content of this project for Google.

We hold our experiences working with the Tseshaht and Hupacasath nations close to our heart. Building relationships and respecting Indigenous communities is crucial in any project, we feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to visit personal places and gain meaningful insights into the culture and traditions of these nations.

For that reason, in addition to the main intended content of this project for Google, we also worked with Grumpy Sailor to create 2 additional videos for the Tseshaht and Hupacasath nations which focus purely on their traditions and culture.
